The Bangsamoro Transition Authority held its inauguration as the First Bangsamoro Parliament on March 29, 2019 at the Shariff Kabunsuan Convention Complex, BARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

Sheikh Khalipa Usman Nando, who was appointed as Wali of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), entered the plenary to officially take his oath and to formally open the first regular session of the Parliament. The inauguration was presided by Interim Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim.  

Acting as Temporary Floor Leader, MP Atty. Lanang Ali, Jr. moved to open the nominations for the officers of the Parliament. Nominated for speakership were MP Atty. Ali Pangalian Balindong and Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia, with the former garnering majority vote via viva voce subsequently proclaiming Atty. Alamia as Leader of the Minority. Other elected officers were MP Hatimil E. Hassan as Deputy Speaker; Atty. Lanang Ali, Jr. as Majority Floor Leader; MP Prof. Raby B. Angkal as Secretary-General; and MP Abdulgani B. Caludtiag as Sergeant-at-Arms.

Having served in the previous Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for over 6 years, Atty. Alamia is eager to take on a new role in serving the Bangsamoro people. As Minority Floor Leader, Atty. Alamia promised to perform her legislative duties towards a stronger Bangsamoro region and a government that stays true to its mandate. She also said that with this new platform, she will continue to pursue her advocacies, especially in advancing Bangsamoro women’s rights, social welfare, and economic empowerment.
