On August 15-17, 2019, MP Laisa Alamia together with other members of the Minority Block provided technical support to the City Government of Isabela in the conduct of its Strategic Planning Workshop.

Gathering all of Isabela City’s agency point-persons, barangay captains, and other stakeholders, the workshop aimed to aid the city in updating its long to short-term plans, including its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA), and Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), among others. The activity was led by Mayor Sittie Djalia Turabin Hataman, in her effort to set inclusive strategic directions for the city’s development programs for the years to come. MP Alamia facilitated the sessions on social development, across the sectors of social welfare, education, and labor, targeted to highlight sectoral needs based on population projections and scenarios over a ten-year timeframe.

Section 3, Article 6 of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) specifically emphasizes the need to ensure the protection of the rights of the Bangsamoro people residing in communities outside the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and undertake programs for their rehabilitation and development. The Minority Block’s assistance in the activity falls squarely within this provision, in the hope of establishing an inclusive approach in addressing development issues confronting the Bangsamoro people.
