What does building a “new normal” mean in the context of peacebuilding during a pandemic? The 6th Mindanao Peace Studies Conference seeks to answer this question through a series of webinars scheduled over the course of four days, with topics ranging from global hunger to violent extremism, from gender bias and racism to internal displacement.

Speaking on Youth Leadership and Social Media in the Context of Covid-19 is Minority Floor Leader Laisa Alamia, who has had years of experience as a youth leader and human rights worker before finding her place in the regional government as a public servant. Her talk will tackle issues that concern the youth in Mindanao, especially in the Bangsamoro, as the region undergoes a period of transition in the midst of a global pandemic.

The event is organized by Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU), in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In the past five years, the conference has established itself as a platform for theory and action surrounding peacebuilding in Mindanao.
