Budget deliberations have begun in the Bangsamoro Parliament as regional agencies submitted their estimated expenditures and proposed appropriations for the next fiscal year, having accounted for adjustments following measures in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minority Floor Leader Atty.Laisa Masuhud Alamia has been involved in the review of the proposed budget and submitted her queries, taking part in the proceedings as an ex officio member of the Committee on Finance, Budget and Management and all subcommittees working on the budget deliberations.

More than three-fourths of the Bangsamoro Regional Government’s proposed 75.6B budget for next year is allocated towards 23 ministries and executive offices, with an increase of almost 10B from last year. The said increase reflects the establishment of five new offices and augmentations in the proposed budget of all ministries, save for the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management, and Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

Based on last year’s figures, here is the breakdown of the projected increase in the regional appropriations bill currently being deliberated by the Bangsamoro Parliament.
