The Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management (CFBM) on Monday adopted the committee report that will be presented and taken up in the plenary as the Bangsamoro Appropriations Bill tomorrow.

The report details proposed changes to the Bangsamoro Expenditure Program, including a 213.5-million peso increase in the appropriations for the ministries and offices in the regional government. Said increase will be sourced and transferred from the Special Purpose Fund, and will be channeled to the Office of the Chief Minister, Ministry of Trade Industry and Tourism,  Ministry of Labor and Employment, Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Close to half of the said increase will be allocated to the education department, set to receive an additional budget amounting to 98-million pesos.

This increase places the total budget for ministries and offices at 64.4-billion, which is 85% of the proposed 75.6-billion budget for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The CFBM is also set to reconvene tomorrow to discuss the extension of the validity of the 2020 regional budget until next year. This is to ensure that regional government projects scheduled for implementation in 2020 that are currently pending can still be carried out in the coming year.
