Deputy Speaker MP Laisa Masuhud Alamia was among key figures who sent their message of support for the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines (LVGP) for its 90th National Assembly last October 20-22, at the Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City.

In her message, MP Alamia pointed out that the LVGP is in a “strategic position” to revitalize local economies as pandemic restrictions continue to ease. This was in line with the theme for the national assembly, Convergence for Inclusive Policies for Tourism, Trade, and Industry.

The assembly focused on discussions with concerned sectors and stakeholders regarding issues and opportunities for cooperation and policy recommendations necessary to “encourage, cultivate and fast track tourism, trade and investment” in the region. Also in the agenda is to craft policies and programs to ensure inclusive growth and increased job opportunities for the Bangsamoro.

“The theme highlights the importance of leaving no one behind in the pursuit of growth and development across all levels of government,” MP Alamia said. “It is hoped that through this national assembly, issues and opportunities for cooperation can be explored with the people’s rights and welfare in mind.”

The local executives who participated in the assembly also visited landmarks and key businesses across Zamboanga City, as well as key cities in Basilan and Tawi-tawi.
