Our work in the Bangsamoro region is defined by deeply-held principles. Our struggle as public servants is always in solidarity with the people we have sworn to represent. The governance of the Bangsamoro carries the mandate of the many communities across several generations that have made the existence of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) possible.
It is this collective consciousness that guides the shared leadership we exercise as members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA). As public servants, we are here because of the unconditional support we have received from the Bangsamoro people. We have always worked with them toward peace and justiceโthe same work that we continue to do today.
We must honor the diversity of the people of the Bangsamoro region by striving without fail to establish points of unity and cooperation. We trust that our esteemed leaders will continue exercising ๐ด๐ข๐ฃ๐ณ as they inspire patience and sobriety among their ranks in the spirit of dialogue and reconciliation. With this, the entire region will follow, from all areas within its territory.
The Quran reminds us: โAnd dispute not with one another, then you will lose courage by getting demoralized and your strength will be lost (8:46).โ
We draw strength from one another, sharpening our ideas through meaningful discourse, perfecting our leadership practices through mindful consultation, and building our communities with inclusion and participation. The past three years were a testament to what our autonomous region can accomplish in the service of the Bangsamoro people. Across that span of time, we worked to fulfill our mandates as the representatives of our people, guided by our common faith and principles.
We join the call of the new administration under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for national unity. In the same vein, we call upon our fellow leaders in the Bangsamoro to heed the same call now. This is not the time to allow our differences to fracture the unity we have worked so hard to build across decades of earnest struggle. We carry the hopes of our people. We must carry them well, whatever the future brings.
We must live up to our peopleโs highest hopes and aspirations. Let us be reminded of the pain and suffering that made it possible for us to stand on this land and call it our own. We are here to honor the sacrifices of those who came before us, the communities whose efforts guide us in the present, and the collective struggle we all share as we chart the future of our people.
Let these shared efforts remind us deeply of the foundations that established why we stand and work for the Bangsamoro: To serve our people, and our homeland.
