With years of experience as a human rights lawyer and women’s rights advocate, the Bangsamoro Parliament’s Minority Floor Leader Laisa Alamia, will speak on gender discrimination in the time of Covid-19 for the Ateneo Law School’s Anti-Discrimination and Equality Class 2020.

Alamia is joined by Atty. Rea Abada Chiongson, senior legal adviser on Gender of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

The online event, titled BABAE KA KASI: A Conversation on Intersecting Forms of Discrimination Against Women in Time of COVID-19 will explore the disproportionate effects of the pandemic on women through an intersectional lens. Gender discrimination affects all women in varying degrees, as they also face other forms of discrimination based on a number of aspects that may also render them vulnerable as their social class, religion, and access to education, among others

The public is invited to join the event on Friday, October 9, from 1:00-3:00PM as we discuss the challenges women face in this pandemic, as well as explore solutions that can ensure women — especially the most vulnerable among us — are protected
